This volume contains Davis’ newest work that probes the eternal struggle between the concepts of order and chaos. It examines the dilemma posed by these two coexistent yet contrary states of being throughout the history of Western Civilization.

The work takes the form of a philosophical and poetic journey through a series of portals, each providing new insights into how the central ideas of order and chaos were perceived during the Classical, Medieval, Enlightenment, Victorian and Modern eras, and ultimately provides a contemporary view of these dissonant concepts. Also included are other selected works by Davis, including his postmodern epic, Egress, and The Fugues in their entirety.
