Carly
McIlvaine
has the voice of an Angel. With her years of classical voice training she
is able to sing music from Baroque to Opera to Jazz to current pop and musical
theatre ballads. She bills herself as an "Adult Contemporary" artist,
specializing in "Classical Pop" music. We at Entertainers Plus would
prefer to call her a Disney "Princess!"
Carly earned a B.A. in Music from American University and a Masters Degree in
Liturgical Music from Catholic University, both in Washington, DC. After
teaching music in private and international schools, Carly returned to graduate
school, where she earned a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Carly also attended an intensive
songwriting workshop at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Currently, Carly is a professional member of the National Chorale, performing
regularly in Lincoln Center New York City. She has been touring since the summer
of 2008 in her own programs entitled, "Opera in the Galleries." In
these "Opera in the Galleries" concerts she performs popular opera
arias, power ballads, and her own compositions in art galleries in coastal New
Jersey and New England. Carly successfully released her debut CD of her own song
compositions in January of 2009. Fans are impressed with her lyrics, her voice,
and the facinating way that she combines classical instrumentation with pop
melodies. Carly is a songwriter member of ASCAP and a member of the Songwriters
Guild of America.
The clarity and expansive range of Carly's voice sets her apart from other pop
and classical singers. She is equally comfortable singing in the concert hall as
she is in the coffee house, bar, or cabaret theater.
Instrumentation
Carly sings with backup
tracks, or with a guitarist and keyboard player, in addition to background
orchestration for added atmosphere. Carly plays guitar & flute in addition
to singing.
